Vivobarefoot has launched the VIVOBIOME Tabi Gen 01 – the world’s first fully bespoke, 3D-printed barefoot sandal shaped precisely to each wearer’s feet using its patented scan-to-print technology. Designed to reintroduce the benefits of natural mobility and challenge the norms of mass-produced footwear, this limited release is a major step toward sustainable, on-demand, localised shoe manufacturing.
Drawing inspiration from millennia-old sandal designs and reshaping them for the future, the Tabi Gen 01 is not simply a fashion statement but a functional return to human-centric design. Each pair is crafted to the contours of an individual’s foot, promoting healthier movement and greater comfort while radically reducing material waste.
The first 590 pairs are now open for global sign-ups and walk-in foot scans at Vivobarefoot’s London and Bristol concept stores. Available in Obsidian Black, Mineral Grey, Forest Green, and Earth Brown, the sandal retails at £140.
“This is simplicity reimagined,” says Asher Clark, co-founder and Chief Design Officer at Vivobarefoot. “We’ve taken one of the oldest tools of humanity and brought it into the future—custom fit, better for your body, and better for the planet.”
The VIVOBIOME Tabi Gen 01 marks a pivotal moment for the footwear industry. With barefoot health benefits, zero inventory waste, and digital manufacturing tailored to individual biomechanics, the model sets a new standard in responsible design. As the modern flip-flop gets redefined, this innovation signals a growing movement toward regenerative footwear and natural well-being.
