Burberry has unveiled its innovative Remake capsule for childrenswear, a collection of over 30 styles crafted from surplus fabrics and yarns from previous collections. The capsule, designed to coincide with the festive season, continues Burberry's longstanding commitment to circular design and sustainability while celebrating its rich heritage in craftsmanship.
The Remake capsule is a testament to Burberry's resourceful approach to fashion, a tradition dating back to 1911 when the brand first created childrenswear using leftover materials. Now, over a century later, the new collection spans key product categories and features pieces that reflect a modern interpretation of timeless design. From miniature outerwear to jersey hoodies, sweatshirts, and mouliné knits, each item is designed to be stylish yet practical, catering to the layered needs of younger wardrobes. Highlights include contrasting checks in shorts and kilts, along with special pieces bearing a multiple owners label to encourage passing garments down through generations.
Caroline Laurie, VP of Corporate Responsibility at Burberry, expressed the brand's enthusiasm for the project, saying: "Our rich history in craftsmanship spans many categories, including childrenswear, and we are delighted to bring this special capsule to life in time for the festive season. Through our dedication to circularity, we were able to transform our surplus fabrics and yarns into a capsule that will add another chapter to this wonderful story."
The collection also features playful reinterpretations of beloved Burberry motifs, adding a touch of whimsy to the designs. The duck emblem, inspired by an archival design from 1992 and recently revived by Chief Creative Officer Daniel Lee, appears prominently across ready-to-wear garments and accessories such as cashmere-blend socks and a knitted baby gift set comprising a cashmere hat and sweater. Another highlight is the Thomas Bear teddy, reimagined in a new patchwork style that reinforces the circular ethos of the capsule.
The Wrapped in Burberry campaign, which accompanies the collection, captures the joy and spirit of the festive season through a series of evocative portraits and videos. These visuals showcase the creativity and craftsmanship behind the capsule while reflecting the brand's dedication to sustainability and design innovation.
Burberry childrenswear, including the Remake capsule, is available in stores and online at Burberry.com, offering families the opportunity to celebrate the holidays with pieces that honour tradition, creativity, and environmental responsibility.
As Burberry continues to lead by example in the fashion industry, the Remake capsule not only provides festive wardrobe solutions but also highlights the brand’s enduring commitment to creating meaningful and sustainable designs. This capsule is a fitting tribute to Burberry's storied legacy of dressing younger generations while looking to a more responsible future.
