Rooted in the ancient symbolism of the Mother Goddess, Kybele Studio translates the harmony of nature into contemporary jewellery that feels both sculptural and serene. “Nature has always been my greatest source of inspiration,” says founder and designer Romina Özel. “I am fascinated by its contrasts, by how stillness and movement coexist so effortlessly. You can see this reflected in my designs, where minimal pieces are often balanced with more sculptural or expressive forms.”
That interplay of form and feeling is at the heart of The Earth’s Treasures collection — a tribute to the beauty and symbolism of gemstones. “Every design truly starts with a stone,” Özel explains. “The moment I see it, I begin to envision the entire piece — how it should feel, what metal complements it, and what story it could tell.” Each gemstone is selected not only for its appearance but also for its meaning, guiding the creative process from concept to final form. The pomegranate earrings, for instance, feature jade — a stone representing abundance — mirroring the cultural symbolism of the fruit itself.
For Özel, The Earth’s Treasures is a deeply personal collection. “It is a reminder of where Kybele Studio began — with gemstones, the earth, and everything that connects us to nature,” she says. “When people wear these pieces, I hope they feel grounded and in tune with the natural world, as if they are carrying a small fragment of the earth’s magic with them.”
Jewellery has always been part of Özel’s story. From her grandmother’s heirlooms to her mother’s keepsakes, each piece carried memory as much as beauty. “Jewellery has always been more than an accessory in my family,” she recalls. “My mother and grandmother both treasured their pieces deeply because they carried stories, memories, and emotion.” Growing up in Istanbul, she was surrounded by bazaars and artisans — a world where craftsmanship and storytelling intertwined — and those early influences continue to shape her creative vision today.
After years of designing jewellery as gifts for herself and the women in her life, Özel’s passion evolved into Kybele Studio, a Luxembourg-based brand that unites heritage with modern sensibility. Designed locally and produced in small batches, each piece combines high-quality gold-plated materials with carefully chosen gemstones, blending minimalist elegance with sculptural, nature-inspired details.
Creating in small quantities is an intentional choice for Özel. “We live in a world of fast fashion where everything feels mass produced and repetitive,” she says. “Each piece is made by hand with attention and care, which gives it soul and individuality. It is not only about producing jewellery — it is about preserving authenticity and honouring the slow and human process behind it.”
As Kybele Studio grows, Özel remains focused on meaning and connection. “My hope is for Kybele Studio to continue creating pieces that accompany people through all moments of life — from everyday wear to special occasions,” she says. “For me, the goal is to keep creating jewellery that connects people to nature, to heritage, and to themselves.”
