In a bold step towards circular fashion, Danish womenswear brand GANNI has entered into a four-year offtake agreement with Los Angeles-based material innovation company Ambercycle to secure access to cycora®, a regenerated polyester made from textile waste. The partnership cements GANNI’s position as a leader in integrating sustainable materials into luxury fashion.
This pioneering deal means GANNI has committed to purchasing cycora® before it has even been produced, reflecting the brand’s confidence in Ambercycle’s innovative approach and the material’s potential to transform the fashion supply chain. The agreement will see GANNI replace over 20% of its annual virgin and bottle-recycled polyester usage with Ambercycle’s circular solution.
cycora®, Ambercycle’s flagship product, is made from end-of-life textiles, diverting waste from landfills and reducing dependence on virgin resources. Engineered to match the performance and durability of traditional polyester, cycora® offers a sustainable alternative for high-quality fashion applications.
GANNI and Ambercycle have collaborated since 2021, when the brand began exploring the potential of cycora® for its collections. Early product launches showcased the material’s scalability and performance, starting with a 30% cycora® jersey in November 2023, followed by a 70% cycora® variant. These successful integrations culminated in GANNI’s Paris Fashion Week collection, which featured standout pieces made with the regenerated material.
Nicolaj Reffstrup, Founder of GANNI, commented on the significance of the deal: “At GANNI, we’re always looking for ways to improve and take responsibility for our impact. Partnering with Ambercycle on an offtake agreement for cycora® is a natural step in our commitment to circular, low-impact solutions. Agreements like this are vital to scaling innovative materials and reducing the fashion industry’s carbon footprint.”
Ambercycle’s Co-Founder and CEO, Shay Sethi, echoed the importance of collaboration in driving systemic change: “Collaboration is the cornerstone of building a circular future. Working with forward-thinking brands like GANNI allows us to take collective, incremental steps toward transforming the fashion system. This partnership is an example of how shared commitment and action can cultivate sustainability achievements.”
For GANNI, the offtake agreement supports its ambitious sustainability goals, including a 50% reduction in carbon emissions by 2027 from a 2021 baseline and sourcing 10% of its materials from ‘Fabrics of the Future’ by 2025. By locking in access to cycora®, the brand is strategically positioning itself to meet these targets while championing material innovation.
The agreement also underscores Ambercycle’s mission to scale its molecular regeneration technology and integrate circular materials seamlessly into the global fashion supply chain. Established in 2015, Ambercycle is dedicated to minimising the environmental impact of raw material extraction and building a decarbonised fashion future.
As sustainability moves to the forefront of the fashion industry’s agenda, access to circular materials like cycora® has become a critical factor in meeting ambitious environmental goals. GANNI’s commitment demonstrates a proactive approach to supporting innovators and fostering a more responsible industry.
Ambercycle’s cycora® offers a compelling solution to the industry’s waste problem by transforming end-of-life textiles into high-performance polyester. With its virgin-grade quality, cycora® meets the rigorous demands of luxury fashion while contributing to a circular and decarbonised supply chain.
GANNI’s ongoing efforts to integrate circular materials are part of its broader mission to redefine modern luxury through responsibility and innovation. As a certified B-Corp, the brand prioritises transparency and accountability, publishing an annual Responsibility Report detailing its progress toward a more sustainable future.
Through this transformative agreement, GANNI and Ambercycle are setting a precedent for how brands and innovators can collaborate to address the urgent challenges facing the fashion industry. By committing to cycora®, GANNI is paving the way for circular materials to become mainstream, reinforcing its status as a trailblazer in responsible fashion.
