eBay is set to transform the fashion landscape with its first-ever ‘Pre-Loved Fashion Week’, a revolutionary initiative celebrating circular fashion by offering shoppable runway shows in two of the world’s fashion capitals. Partnering with the British Fashion Council (BFC) and the Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA), eBay will host these events in London and New York ahead of the official SS25 Fashion Week schedules.

The highlight of the week, ‘Endless Runway’, will present an array of pre-loved fashion from renowned designers such as Off-White, Christopher Kane, Simone Rocha, and Khaite. The London show, curated by eBay UK’s Pre-Loved Style Director Amy Bannerman, will be hosted by model and presenter Leomie Anderson. This exclusive event will take place on 12 September 2024 at 6pm BST on eBay Live, allowing viewers to purchase iconic pieces from legendary designers like Vivienne Westwood and Molly Goddard as they appear on the runway.

In New York, the ‘Endless Runway’ will similarly be a key feature of the city’s Fashion Week, styled by fashion creative Wisdom Kaye and hosted by fashion writer Liana Satenstein. This event promises to showcase high-quality, archival collections, demonstrating how vintage fashion can blend seamlessly with contemporary trends.

Kirsty Keoghan, eBay’s General Manager of Fashion, remarked, “eBay has long been a leader in promoting sustainable fashion. With the launch of Pre-Loved Fashion Week, we’re stepping into fashion’s spotlight and proving that authentic designer pieces can be both accessible and eco-friendly.”

Caroline Rush, CEO of the British Fashion Council, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, noting, “As we mark 40 years of London Fashion Week, we are thrilled to collaborate with eBay to highlight British brands and designers who have shaped this iconic event. The Endless Runway will rejuvenate archival pieces and broaden fashion week’s reach, encouraging more sustainable and circular fashion choices.”

The demand for pre-loved luxury items has surged, with nearly $50 billion worth of second-hand products sold globally in 2023. On eBay, pre-loved and refurbished items account for 40% of the marketplace’s gross merchandise volume. In June 2024 alone, global searches for "vintage" averaged over 1,000 per minute, underscoring the growing appetite for sustainable fashion.

eBay’s Pre-Loved Fashion Week aims to spotlight how effortlessly consumers can embrace high-quality, pre-loved designer fashion, aligning with a broader movement towards circular and sustainable fashion practices.
